
A celebration of the life of Bill Savory
Bill Savory of Blackburn Road, Haslingden died on Saturday 20th September at the Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 93.
Born in 1931 in Bacup, Bill became a ‘Bevin Boy’ for a short while before starting in the textile industry. He worked at Ormerod’s, Size House and then David Whitehead’s in Rawtenstall, before retiring from Butterworth’s at Waterfoot having become one of the most experienced tape sizers in the Valley.
He enjoyed camping and caravanning with his late wife of 65 years, Glenys, as well as dog walking and attending steam rallies.
Bill leaves behind his son Keith, daughter Diane, daughter in law Susan, brother Peter and nephews Kevin and Ian.
Service
Bill’s funeral will take place on Thursday 2nd October at Accrington Crematorium.
